Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I've heard that your waxes are a terrific value.  What is the suggested retail price?
A:  Yes: Fast Wax is a terrific value. We are a small company with low overhead  and pass the savings on to the  customer. Check with your local dealer for current pricing dealers.html

Please contact your dealer for additional pricing on bulk wax, Eversharp Scraper Sharpeners, Fast Wax Hats, ski ties and other items.
They will be very happy to help you out.

Q:  I'm seeing both your old packaging and new packaging on retail shelves this year.  Is there any disadvantage to buying the old packages?

A:   Only the package has changed.  Hydrocarbon wax has a very long shelf life and the wax formulations were not changed.  Fluorinated wax can oxidize and discolor if exposed to sunlight but this does not affect performance.

Q:  Can I buy the wax directly from you?

A:     Fast Wax has an excellent retail sales network, see your local dealer or order through one of our mail order stores.

Q:  My team wants to make a large team purchase of wax.  Can we do this directly from you?

A:    We do have a school team purchase program through participating dealers for high school and college teams only.  Please talk to your Fast Wax dealer about this or contact us for more information at our listed email or phone listed on the bottom of the page.

Q:  How can you sell a highly fluorinated wax at a price well below that of your competitors?

A:  First, we are a U.S. company and so do not incur the import and distributorship costs of foreign manufacturers.  Second, highly fluorinated wax requires a much more labor-intensive manufacturing process than the standard hydrocarbon wax, as well as more expensive components.  These two factors dramatically increase the cost of production; however, for a "wax microbrewery" like Fast Wax where all of the wax is produced in highly controlled, moderate-sized batches our production costs are not impacted to the same degree as a more automated operation.  Finally, we make all decisions with an eye to keeping our wax affordable while maintaining premium quality.  From our recyclable plastic packaging, to the design of this website, we focus on bringing value to skiers rather than costly & unnecessary glitz.

Q:  Frequently asked Birkie Question: "I'm willing to go for speed at any cost for this race...why doesn't Fast Wax recommend a cold pure fluoro?  Is it because you don't have one in your line?

This question comes up whenever there is a "cold" Birkie.  There is a good reason that we don't provide a cold pure fluoro...it won't improve the speed of your skis. The main purposes of fluorine are water and dirt repellency, with some additional durability as well.  On cold, dry snow, fluorine has no beneficial effect.  And the legendary durability of Fast Wax products does not require an overlay to hold up for 52K or longer.  Once you are into the range of potentially humid snow, the Fast Wax Highly Fluorinated Race Waxes have the right mix of fluorination built in to address the requirements of their respective temperature ranges.  When you're above 25F and in very humid snow we do recommend a pure fluoro product because at that point it will provide the additional repellency that makes a difference.
The Fast Wax Race Team and others on Fast Wax consistently report skis that are as fast or faster than those aroundthem in all conditions...including top Birkie skiers.   Trust what your skis tell you.
